My New Year's Resolution: Clean Up This Blog

I lied.  I resolved to stop making New Year's resolutions many years ago, and I have kept it.

I've been working on this novel, and when it was almost finished I had a moment of brand name panic -- I must establish one, and I must blog, and review other books, and become a presence.

But I was too hasty, and I was heading off in too many diverging directions.  And I got to the point where I couldn't even face the blog because I wasn't sure who I was writing for -- authors? readers? serious literary types? unapologetic fans of YA? sci fi readers? myself? faraway loved ones?  the haters next door?

I finished the book and then I spent some time being exhausted and not thinking about it, and reading a couple of nice rejections I got when I thought I was almost finished.  And after letting it all sink in, I think I wrote an average time-killer of a story, with plenty of thrills and adventure.

I also think that if I take one more re-drafting pass through it, it could be a pretty good story.  So I'm going to be doing that.  Once it's re-finished, it should be good to go.

As far as frantically trying to establish a brand name, I'll let the story speak for itself.

Meanwhile, I left the cat pictures up.
